Right now so many of us are feeling all kinds of anxiety. I know it has been a daily struggle for me. Often times managing anxiety is done through stillness and quiet. Sometimes, however, we need to move in order to clear out the heaviness and create some space to relax. This sequence is a breath-focused flow accessible to most and meant to create peace at every level.

Hi! Here's a practice you might do before bedtime or if you're just feeling a little stressed and need to chill. There is some breath work at the beginning and end, which you can certainly skip if you're not feeling it (although I would argue it is probably the best part...) This is a Yin/Yang hip opening sequence. Could be used to cool down after a standing vinyasa sequence or on its own. Also could be made into a more Yin practice by pausing the video to hold poses longer. This is a short standing Vinyasa sequence, which includes Warrior I and Pyramid pose. This is a Vinyasa warm up sequence or a stand-alone short basic flow This was a post-run yoga stretch. It's so good for any post-workout or just a basic yoga stretch. XOXO (not 5-10 min. 30 minutes. sorry ;(.Hi there my dear friends! So, I am going to start posting some regular videos here. You can check Youtube or this blog for updates. I am sooo not comfortable in front of a camera so will hopefully get better at this as time goes on. Please let me know if there are specific things you'd like me to do. Moe to come... ![]() So, I have been lucky enough to be relatively "successful". in life - At least "successful" by many people's definition. Unfortunately with that "success" came an over ten year depression. Successful???? Hmmmm... About twelve years ago I found yoga. In the years that followed, with the help of many wonderful teachers (most of whom had no idea about the darkness that was consuming me) I found freedom from my depression, A freedom which has lasted for over ten years. Still something has been missing. It became apparent to me that I need to share the healing power of yoga, mindfulness, movement, dance, self-expression, community, and kindness. Sprouting from this seed of intention has grown Ten Trees Yoga & Wellness. Ten Trees has been an embryo for way too long so it was time to give it the light it needed to expand and grow. On February 1st and 2nd we will celebrate the Grand Opening and you are invited. There will be many free classes all weekend long: Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative, Slow-flow, Meditation/Journaling, Conscious Dance, and more! AND special guests Debbie Valois and Lori Mancini of Laughing Elephant Yoga in East Greenwich www.laughingelephantyoga.com will bring some fun! There will also be a reception from 3-6 on Saturday Feb 1st. Everyone is invited to come by for some food and drink or to just say hi! Please tell your friends and come down to check us out. Stay tuned for more details very soon... Much love! Erik ![]() Ten Trees is officially two weeks old (Oh, and on the same day its owner and chief yoga dude turns 46) It has been an amazing couple of weeks! I have really had to use my yoga powers to keep things in perspective. I have learned so much about myself, running a business, and the web. (Okay, on second thought I have actually learned very little about the web because I can't seem to get Ten Trees to show up in internet searches which definitely isn't helping get people in the door. LOL). Oh, and then there's the social media thing. If you know me, it's really not my bag baby, but I'm workin on it! Anyway....I wanted to send out a huge thank you to those of you who have supported us so far! I cannot put into words how grateful I am to those of you who have given so much of your love! We have added a ton of classes and awesome teachers and have some exciting things planned for the coming weeks and months. One of those exciting things is the Grand Opening - Open House weekend Feb 1st and 2nd. I'll be sending out all the details very soon so stay tuned... Planting Ten Trees
My dear friend Lori reminded me of something the other day while standing in the empty studio surrounded by to-dos and potential (well, she reminded me of a lot of things - but I digress…) she suggested that I need to document, and maybe share, the journey of starting and growing Ten Trees Yoga & Wellness I am actually a pretty private person so the idea of putting it out there seems a bit uncomfortable because it will require exposing a lot of my internal dialogue and struggles (and maybe even myself – but spoiler alert: there won’t be many photos of me half-naked in yoga poses) It occurred to me however, that the root system of Ten Trees, and the trees themselves, can help me to describe this creation Over the next few weeks I will be journaling the process of growing Ten Trees: from the preparation of the soil to the pruning of the branches (feel free to reach across the interwebs and smack me at any time with all the tree references!) I hope to illustrate what Ten Trees is and where it came from while sharing the awesomeness of creation and the obstacles along the way All of this is paralleled by Yoga itself. All that we do must come from the heart if we want it to be truly healthy and thrive Ten Trees Yoga & Wellness started in my heart many years ago. It took a long time for it to germinate and begin to take root - it is now breaking through the soil and reaching to the sun |
